Thursday 22 September: Royal Northern College of Music, Carnival

The Royal Northern College of Music realises that their students appreciate diverse musical experiences, complementing the classical style of learning on which RNCM’s reputation is built. Having worked for several years with RNCM, delivering short djembe projects for students and staff, our performance troupe Tanante were delighted to be invited to kick start the new term. The RNCM “Carnival” was a perfect place for students old and new to meet, and our rhythms added to the party atmosphere…

Special thanks to our amazing dancer Diene Sagna for adding an extra hot flavour to the performance! The RNCM event programming has increasingly reflected their commitment to showcasing music from Africa, with artists such as Toumani Diabate and Baaba maal. We’re proud to continue our work with the RNCM and look forward to returning in November for our next djembe workshop.
